Joaquín Sorolla Bastida -Valencia 1863- Cercedilla 1923- known as “the painter of light”, was one of the most recognized Spanish artists of the 19th century, earning the highest prizes in life -among others the Grand Prix of the Universal Exhibition of Paris in 1900- and his work, labeled as impressionist or luminist, continues to have great recognition after his death.
The Sorolla Museum, home and workshop of the painter, hosts the richest collection of his works, being one of the most complete and best preserved artist houses in Europe, and his garden, also designed by him, is a beautiful oasis in the city.
The Sorolla Museum Foundation offers a specialized guide service for individual visitors or in groups of less than 8 people, without prior reservation.
